This month we’re proud to be launching our ITF Freelancer scheme. For the first time, those joining will have access to unique ITF services which aim to develop freelancer skills and help with career progression, including:

Candidates for this course may be eligible for funding (80% of the training costs for freelancers, or 50% for employees – including  travel and accommodation if relevant) through Skillset’s Multiplatform Bursary Scheme
How to book: contact ITF as usual to secure a place on the course and pay ITF in the usual way. Apply as soon as possible to Skillset before the course because it will take up to 4 weeks for Skillset to confirm bursaries.

New multiplatform bursaries

Skillset has released bursaries for multiplatform courses from June of up to 80% of the cost for experienced TV freelancers, and 50% for employees (including travel and accommodation expenses where relevant).  Apply to Skillset beacuse you need to do so at least 5 days before the course…

A full-day workshop to develop the writing and storytelling skills of TV and digital media production teams over a range of platforms and to review the latest trends in cross-platform scripted content
Who’s it for? TV & digital media content development teams, producers, directors and writers. Delegates will be asked to select and submit before the course a single page content proposal (new or existing) that you would like to develop in the workshop

Broadcast Industry Training Award

This is the fourth year of the Broadcast Training Award - the only industry specific accolade within the acclaimed National Training Awards.

The awards are managed by the BTSR, Ofcom and Skillset, in partnership with UK Skills.

ITF promotes the importance of learning and development in these tough economic times, so isn’t it time you had your potential award-winning training programme recognised?

The Broadcast Industry Training Award invites entries from broadcasters and indie production companies (but not training supppliers) for separate categories of Small (1-49 employees), Medium (50-249 employees) and Large (over 250 employees) Employers.

Entering the National Training Awards is a boost for your business and an opportunity for you to have your learning and development benchmarked against the best in the UK. Winning L&D programmes are an inspiration for your own and other broadcast companies. 2010 could be your winning year!

Archive skills: subsidised training

A series of one-day professional development modules for practitioners with significant experience in the film & TV archive sector, especially the evolving digital area, metadata, and associated rights issues.

This training is provided by a partnership of FT2, VET, FOCAL International, the Imperial War Museum, and the Indie Training Fund.  It is supported by the Skillset Film Skills Fund with UK Film Council Lottery funding.
