Belinda Copland

Belinda Copland has specialised in media law for almost 20 years, including five years as a partner at Goodman Derrick where she is now a consultant. In her media law practice, she deals with all aspects of non-contentious and compliance work relating to television content and broadcasting. She also advises on a wide variety of media law matters including: defamation, contempt, copyright and breach of confidence. Belinda has extensive experience of television current affairs and documentary, and has worked as a programme lawyer within ITV Compliance.  She has also spent time on secondment at a major advertising agency as acting General Counsel.

Deborah Langdon-Davies – worked for the BBC for nine years in the Copyright Department, now part of the BBC Talent Rights Group, specializing in literary and artistic rights issues across a wide range of programmes, particularly in factual programming. She set up and ran the Photo Unit which deals with the clearance of images for BBC television and multimedia, and conducted complex negotiations with rights holders such as BAPLA, DACS and the major UK Galleries on behalf of the BBC in order to establish industry wide terms for the use of visual material. Deborah has been working as a freelance trainer/adviser in copyright and broadcast rights. She has extensive experience of training in rights issues, and also advises production staff and rights owners on rights, contracts and negotiations.

Ian McBride is a journalist and programme maker with a 30 year record in delivering powerful and contentious programming, recognised by more than 20 national and international awards ranging from BAFTA and the RTS to Prix Italia and the International Emmies. As Granada’s head of factual drama, he contributed to some of the most forceful and demanding television pieces ever screened: Who Bombed Birmingham?, Fighting for Gemma and Hillsborough. Ian is a former deputy editor and producer/director on Granada’s World In Action, where he led the uncovering and pursuit of the once-hopeless cause of the Birmingham Six, and Granada’s campaign for their release, with five separate programmes over seven years. He has extensive detailed knowledge of broadcast content regulation: he retired from ITV in the summer of 2008 after eight years as managing editor and director of compliance. Ian is also a board member at the Association for Television on Demand.

Julie Clark

Julie Clark is a freelance Line Producer/Producer who works on high profile TV drama and mid to low budget feature films, for a variety of independent production companies.  Her career started in documentaries over twenty years ago, but soon moved into drama, both period and contemporary.  Her more recent TV credits include the BBC’s highly acclaimed “Crimson Petal and the White” and “Oliver Twist”, and ITV’s “Whitechapel” and “Secret Diary of a Call Girl”.  She worked on Stephen Poliakoff’s latest feature “Glorious 39″, produced the award winning, low-budget film “Acts of Godfrey”, and has recently set up an indie feature film production company with a slate of three films in development.
